Mountain View, Calif. — June 20, 2018 — Tricentis and QASymphony announced their agreement to merge under the name of Tricentis.  Tricentis’ market-leading Continuous Testing platform has earned the company unanimous “leader” recognition among the top industry analysts. QASymphony is recognized as the industry’s leading test management solution. The combined solution represents the most modern platform for transforming software testing to keep pace with digital transformation.

“Tricentis and QASymphony are both recognized for their innovative testing solutions,” explained Sandeep Johri, CEO of Tricentis. “Tricentis is known for helping enterprises transform testing from a burdensome manual process that delays software delivery into an automated, continuous process that drives ‘quality at speed.’ The addition of QASymphony’s test management solution strengthens our leadership position and builds on our momentum replacing legacy testing tools.”

“Today’s CIOs are responsible for ramping up innovation through accelerated software delivery,” explained Barry Libenson, Global Chief Information Officer at Experian. “Amid this demand for rapid innovation, CIOs are recognizing that software testing often delays their digital transformation goals. In fact, testing is now commonly cited as the #1 bottleneck to delivery speed. When testing lags behind development, the organization is forced to delay their innovation and that’s no longer an option.  It’s inevitable that software testing must be transformed to keep pace with Agile development and DevOps.”

“Global 2000 organizations remain locked into legacy testing platforms that were designed decades ago to enable manual testing processes,” explained Dave Keil, CEO of QASymphony. “Scaled agile and enterprise DevOps initiatives have changed the game. Yet, legacy testing technologies such as those by HPE (now Micro Focus) and CA are throttling speed and innovation. QASymphony has experienced triple-digit growth over the past year—allowing us to aggressively invest in our technology, infrastructure and people to meet the emerging needs of our customers.”

QASymphony’s 100+ employees will be joining Tricentis’ 450+ employees. Sandeep Johri will lead the organization as CEO and Dave Keil will assume the role of COO. The combined company will have a global presence with offices in the US, EMEA and Asia.   The transaction is expected to close within 90 days.

The integration will reflect the commitment to innovation and customer success that both companies share—to learn more, register for the upcoming webinar.  Additionally, the company will be showcasing the roadmap and solution at Accelerate 2018 in Vienna.

DevOps Impact

The market for software testing (recently estimated at $34 billion)[1] has reached an inflection point. DevOps adoption is rising rapidly, and both Gartner and Forrester report that transforming testing is a primary factor for DevOps success.[2]  Yet, software testing remains a predominantly manual activity that delays releases and consumes 30-40 percent of an organization’s application budget[3],[4]Tricentis Continuous Testing solutions accelerate delivery and free up significant budget that can be reallocated to underfunded innovation initiatives.

Gartner’s Joachim Herschmann and Thomas Murphy report: “As DevOps principles gain significant traction in enterprises, testing and QA is no longer a stage in delivery but an integral DevOps activity that exists in various forms through all areas. Automation has become an indispensable element in these efforts, and there has been renewed focus on software test automation tools as part of a larger toolchain that enables DevOps.”[5]

Perfecto is First to Fully Support Automated Continuous Testing of PWA

Perfecto’s offerings are architected to extend open source test automation frameworks

BOSTON, June 12, 2018 — As brands strive to deliver more engaging digital experiences, Progressive Web Apps (PWA) are gaining momentum. Perfecto, the leading continuous testing and monitoring platform for optimizing DevOps pipelines, is the first cloud-based testing platform provider to support automated testing of PWAs. Perfecto supports early PWA adopters who are testing PWAs across desktop and mobile platforms.

Early reports demonstrate PWAs improve user experience, grow engagement and increase conversions. PWAs offer users the ability to use sites while offline, receive push notifications and access platform features like cameras, microphone, speakers, data storage, and GPS. These capabilities are propelling PWA adoption and enriching website experiences with capabilities previously only available with hybrid and native mobile apps.

PWA adoption is expected to increase. In a recent survey conducted by Perfecto, 41 percent of respondents plan to add PWA capability to their sites already following responsive web design (RWD) over the next 12 months with an additional 32 percent actively researching the shift. Organizations across all industries are recognizing PWA benefits. One major e-commerce site reported a 76 percent increase in mobile web conversions with 14 percent more active monthly users on iOS and 30 percent more on Android. A leading business magazine publisher redesigned their mobile experience as a PWA, resulting in a 43 percent increase in sessions per user.

“PWA is one of the latest web development market innovations being embraced today after responsive web design to enhance user experience,” said Roi Carmel, chief strategy officer at Perfecto. “Our Automation Coverage Extension capabilities provide us the architectural advantage to provide DevOps teams with what they need to automate PWA testing to deliver flawless user experiences.”

Automating PWA testing requires support for unique PWA use cases. Perfecto supports the following PWA use cases. Collectively, they help teams implement continuous testing and achieve velocity objectives.

  • Launching PWAs – The ability to launch PWAs from device home screens benefits users and creates a new challenge for test automation. Perfecto is introducing a new capability to launch progressive sites in parallel on desktop and mobile platforms.
  • Test authoring & execution – As a hybrid technology, PWAs require the ability to interact with different types of user interface objects. Perfecto’s Object Spy provides test automation developers a single view of all objects in application under test. As a result, identifying and interacting with both web and native iOS and Android objects in a single flow is fully supported. This overcomes Selenium and Appium limitations of inspecting PWA document object model (DOM).
  • Test audio, camera, and location-based scenarios – PWAs introduce the rich engagement capabilities of mobile devices to websites. Perfecto supports automated testing of user flows requiring audio, image and location-based inputs. Automated testing can also handle push notifications.
  • User condition test scenarios – The PWA benefits of increased conversions are in part driven by websites now becoming accessible while users are offline leveraging service workers. Perfecto’s Wind Tunnel™ capability enables testing network disconnections and measuring object rendering times.
  • One test, one report – Perfecto supports executing PWA tests in the cloud, on desktop and mobile platforms in parallel. PWA tests executed across Android, iOS, Windows and MAC OS generate one combined test report.

Easiest Way To Automate API Testing Just Got Easier With Newest Version Of SoapUI Pro

SmartBear Announces SoapUI Pro 2.4 with New Native Jenkins Plugin to Simplify CI/CD Integration and Enhanced API Discovery to Instantly Convert API Traffic to Automated API Tests

SOMERVILLE, Mass. — June 06, 2018 —  SmartBear, the leader in software quality tools for teams, released a new update to SoapUI Pro, the leading automated API testing tool. SoapUI Pro 2.4 provides a new native Jenkins plugin for fast and easy integration with the popular CI/CD tool and has enhanced the API Discovery capability to instantly convert API traffic to automated API tests. With SoapUI 2.4, SmartBear continues to provide the most powerful, yet easy-to-use API testing capabilities for QA teams that want to move from manual to automated testing to accelerate their software development initiatives.

As organizations move to shift their testing into earlier development phases and adopt Agile practices that incorporate continuous testing, it’s necessary to drastically increase Unit and API testing in the development process to ensure robust test coverage across the application and remove flakiness that often plagues tests at the UI level. Previously, conducting large-scale API testing has been hampered by silos between development and testing teams and the requirement for deep technical skills when working with APIs. The enhanced API Discovery capabilities in SoapUI Pro 2.4 solves this problem by allowing testers of any skill level to create advanced API test cases by instantly converting API traffic into full-blown automated API tests. With the addition of the new native Jenkins plugin, which complements the command-line interface for integrating with other CI infrastructure, like TeamCity or Bamboo, SoapUI Pro 2.4 saves hours of time deploying builds. Teams can now select their SoapUI Pro testing suite as a Jenkins Build Step, reducing time spent copying and running commands in a batch execution file like most API testing tools.

“The new API Discovery capability in SoapUI Pro can help bridge the gap between QA and development teams giving QA team members a fast lane to begin testing their REST and SOAP API calls and introducing quality earlier in the development process,” said Christian Wright, EVP and GM, API Business at SmartBear.

The enhanced API Discovery feature in SoapUI Pro complements its already powerful one-click test creation, which uses out-of-the-box assertions to help testers generate complex functional, load, or security API tests with no coding knowledge required. The API Discovery happens inside an internal browser or across a proxy, listening for API calls that are happening beneath the UI layer and then converting those calls into automated API tests. This method of API test creation helps connect the UI and API layers in the testing phase, allowing for the larger adoption of API test automation across an organization.

This update also adds support for JSON Web Token (JWT), a common open source method for creating access tokens, as well as support for RAML 1.0 for legacy APIs that haven’t yet been converted to the OpenAPI Specification.

To learn more about SoapUI Pro 2.4, attend this live webinar on Wednesday, June 13 at 9 a.m. EDT and 2 p.m. EDT:
