BlazeMeter Continuous Testing Platform Achieves VMware Ready – vCloud Air™ Status Under Access Tier in vCloud™ Air® ISV Program

BlazeMeter, the continuous testing as a service platform for mobile, web and APIs, today announced that its BlazeMeter continuous testing platform, has achieved VMware Ready – vCloud Air™ status. This designation indicates that BlazeMeter continuous testing platform has undergone technical validation within vCloud Air environment, and is supported on VMware vCloud Air®.

“We are pleased that BlazeMeter has joined the vCloud Air ISV Program and has achieved VMware Ready – vCloud Air certification. BlazeMeter qualifies for the VMware Ready –  vCloud Air logo, signifying to customers that it works seamlessly within VMware vCloud Air, and can be deployed in production with confidence,” said Sanjay Katyal, Vice President, Global Technology Partners, VMware.

Additionally BlazeMeter is a member of the access tier of the vCloud Air ISV program and is listed on the VMware Solution Exchange.

Developers are concerned about quickly and effectively testing the throughput of their web applications without compromising software quality. “By using BlazeMeter on vCloud Air, enterprises can leverage BlazeMeter’s unique on-premise, behind the firewall offering, or its fully managed self-service cloud based offering for either low scale testing on a single box or production level load testing with hundreds of servers generating load from the public cloud,” said Alon Girmonsky, CEO and Founder, BlazeMeter. “This allows organizations to leverage their existing IT assets by seamlessly blending their performance tests from the same environment.”

The VMware Ready program is a co-branding benefit of the Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program that makes it easy for customers to identify partner products certified to work with VMware cloud infrastructure. Customers can use these products and solutions to lower project risks and realize cost savings over custom built solutions.  With thousands of members worldwide, the VMware TAP program includes best-of-breed technology partners with the shared commitment to bring the best expertise and business solution for each unique customer need.

TestPlant brings load testing to the cloud with eggPlant Performance v6

TestPlant, the maker of the eggPlant range of software quality tools, today announced the launch of eggPlant Performance v6, the latest version of the company’s advanced performance and load testing tool.

This release introduces cloud-based performance testing for the first time. eggPlant Performance v6 can now automatically and dynamically set-up load-injectors on Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure servers. This makes it faster and easier for software testers to set-up large performance and stress tests, while reducing the hardware needed to acquire and set-up virtual users.

The cloud functionality of eggPlant Performance v6 means that simulated virtual users can be quickly and easily created on-demand in different geographic locations. This helps digital enterprises to ensure they are delivering a first-class user experience for users anywhere in the world.

“eggPlant Performance v6 is designed to make it even quicker and easier for software quality teams in digital enterprises to run large performance and stress tests on their business critical applications from mobile to desktop to server,” said Antony Edwards, CTO, TestPlant. “The fact is that most digital businesses today from retail, to media, to banks are not doing performance and stress testing. This is costing them money in lost revenue every day, but they feel powerless due to the traditionally high skill barrier that proper performance testing has required.”

“eggPlant Performance v6 changes this by making proper user-focussed performance and stress testing accessible to all test teams for the first time,” added Edwards. “Our new cloud-based capabilities for example mean that testers can run large-scale performance tests without the cost and complexity associated with purchasing and configuring physical servers. Setting up multiple servers is now automatically handled by eggPlant Performance and can be done in minutes rather than weeks, and for hundreds rather than tens of thousands of dollars.”

eggPlant Performance v6 includes Dynamic Test Control, which lets users control tests while they are still running, allowing them, for example, to increase, reduce or pause the number of virtual users. This makes it faster to isolate and resolve performance bottlenecks.

The new release also includes debug integration with standard development environments, such as Visual Studio and Eclipse, which lets users debug their eggPlant Performance scripts directly within their preferred IDE. This makes creating reliable scripts faster.

In addition, eggPlant Functional v6 boasts many other new features including simpler test-wide configuration, improved eggPlant Functional integration, internal encryption, and enhanced data correlation.

Web Performance Study Ranks Top WordPress Hosting Providers

A study by CustomerCentrix LLC tests the scalability of providers at 2,000 concurrent users

LoadStorm® and ReviewSignal have teamed up to test the scalability of 16 WordPress hosting providers. Load tests were executed in LoadStorm PRO to simulate heavy traffic hitting identical WordPress sites. Web performance metrics, such as page response time and throughput, were measured throughout the test. The 10 hosting providers that did not struggle with tests of 500 or 1,000 concurrent users were then tested at 2,000 concurrent users and ranked according to their web performance.

The experiment included identical dummy websites that were implemented on each of the providers. The scripts created for the load tests were also identical and included normal user behaviors such as browsing and logging in. The final round of load tests lasted 30 minutes and ramped in a linear pattern from 500 to 2,000 concurrent users.

LoadStorm PRO provided in-depth data of how each provider handled the heavy load of simulated traffic. To rank the top 10 providers in the final round of testing, 5 performance metrics were evaluated: Average Response Time, Peak Response Time, Throughput, Error Rate, and Average Page Completion Time. For each metric, the providers were ranked 1st through 10th place based upon an ideal performance standard. Then each place was designated points: 1st Place – 10 points; 2nd Place – 9 points; 3rd place – 8 points; etc. The providers were ranked by highest total score from all metrics.

LoadStorm CEO, Roger Campbell, states, “The majority of the hosting providers in this study managed the heavy traffic very well. We were impressed with the high level of performance overall.”
